- Windows 10 black screen cursor after login free download

On the bottom right corner, you should see the power icon, click on it and select restart to reboot your computer. This could take some additional time, so you might see the restart taking longer than usual, but that is ok. Upon restarting, you should be able to log back in and access your desktop and other GUI functions as usual. Here we will be using the troubleshooting tool from advanced startup option to either revert back to the previous version of windows or boot to safe mode and uninstall the application that could be causing this error.

On the bottom-right corner of the screen, you will see the power icon. Press and hold down the shift key and then select restart from the power options, keep holding the shift key until you see the advanced startup option page. Here you get to decide which option is more suitable in your case. If this black screen error occurred after you installed some major updates, say you upgraded from Windows 10 build to build , then you can select the option that says go back to the previous version , and then follow the instructions to revert to your previous build, and that could possibly fix your black screen problem.

But if you suspect that this could be coming from an application you recently installed then you want to boot to safe mode and uninstall or modify the application from there. To do that you want to click on startup settings on the page below.

Wait a bit for the startup settings page to come up. It will open Task Manager. If you are successful in opening device manager jump to step 4 otherwise read ahead. If you are not able to open task manager you have to start your computer in safe mode. Follow this steps to start your computer in safe mode. In case of many users, this issue is happened due to faulty or misconfigured graphics cards.

This error can also happen if your computer has two different graphics drivers. Updating your graphics card driver can be easy solution for this issue. You can download graphics card driver on your PC manufacturer website or graphics card website.

Make sure that you are choosing right drivers for your computer while downloading them. Check for the error after updating your graphics card driver. If none of the above methods worked for you then resetting your computer is the last option for you. Firstly I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continue support in resolving this issue. I very much appreciate it. In June I upgraded the system and added an SDD drive which is now the new "C" drive, that we have been working on.

The migration was done using Acronis True Image software that it still loaded. My son is the main user of this machine but I have never tweaked settings as far as I'm aware he would not have done either Using the installed updates panel I took a look and could see that both these packages were installed yesterday. I have automatic updates turned on so at least that part of the system remains health!

As to the main issue at hand, I personally tend to think what is needed is a repair install of Windows. Since I do not have info on what video hardware is on this pc, nor what driver version is installed, I would hesitate from remarking on nvidia forum citation.

Would you please go to the Start button and then the RUN option. This starts the Microsoft System Information tool. Allow enough time for the applet to load and finish. Look on first screen on the menu bar. Please download MiniToolBox save it to your desktop and run it. Click Go and post the result Result. A copy of Result. Next, suggest that at your next best opportunity enable the F8 function key use at machine boot that way you have means to have advanced startup options.

The NTbtlog which is the system bootlog shows a very high number of "not loaded" drivers related to the video card. Let me suggest you go onto the Lenovo forum and seek help on getting the latest driver for the Nvideo from Lenovo. Secondly, while your situation is "no screen", I would encourage you to check whther your Lenovo Thinkpad has Lenovo Vantage App.

HI, the system is actually a standard tower. It is the Nvidia GTX card, which as been working properly but there was an update before the blank screen, so I may focus on doing a clean reinstall of those drivers. Given what you said about the Nvidia GTX , focusing on that is the thing to do. But I didn't install the Nvidia application - I simply cancelled the install, but asked windows to update just the driver - with success.

Do the msconfig changes we made apply to all accounts or just to the account that was active at the time? If you had made changes there for a clean-boot test, you can just put back what you had disabled. It seems you have made progress. You can be proud of that. Just sorry that you have had to go thru all the trouble. But you stayed the course.
